Tape degradation as pacing

Damped upright at midnight

Scoring around human speech

Quarter-inch tape passed through degraded heads yields harmonic tension impossible to replicate in software environments. We calibrated playback speed to mirror human respiratory drift across continuous single takes.

Felt dampeners placed against the hammer rail reduce upper harmonics, isolating the percussive wood strike. Capturing this mechanical weight requires close stereo ribbon placement in a deadened room.

Dialogue scenes demand harmonic vacancy between three hundred and three thousand hertz. By carving that fundamental frequency slot, acoustic bass and bowed metal can sustain without competing with spoken text.
